Bard's SummerScape is known as one of the most exciting multi-arts festival in the Northeast. SummerScape—now in its twelfth season—offers a tapestry of interwoven events in the disciplines of music, dance, drama, opera, operetta, film, and cabaret, all of them keyed to the theme of the annual Bard Music Festival, which this summer revolves around "Schubert and His World." SummerScape events include Carl Maria von Weber's opera, Euryanthe; Trisha Brown Dance Co.'s Proscenium Works 1979–2011; John Banville's reworking of Heinrich von Kleist's Penthesilea titled Love in the Wars; and the film festival Schubert and the Long Nineteenth Century. Meanwhile, in SummerScape's famous Spiegeltent, enjoy family entertainment and late-night performances, dancing, & dining. SummerScape events are presented in the acoustically superb Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, designed by Frank Gehry, and other venues on Bard College’s Hudson River campus. Near-daily performances from July 3 through August 17.
